Sonette started to study BSc (Agric) at the University of Pretoria in 1993 with the dream of getting accepted to become a Veterinarian. It was at university where she started to go on short term missionary trips almost every holiday and there the seed of full time ministry was sowed. After university she worked in several administrative jobs as well as on a horse farm after which she landed a job in a laboratory. Here she was involved with quality control, research and development as well as ISO auditing (ISO 9001:2000) for almost 9 years. During this time she started studying fine art and graphic design part time. She quit her lab work and freelanced as a graphic designer for almost 7 months before starting to work for HIM full time in March 2008.
